Hi All

I've had a look through the FAQ and the archives and I can't see
anything that could cause this one.

I am running dhcpd (dhcp-2.0pl5-8) on RedHat7.3 with some updates. The
server hands leases out with no problems but a quick check in the
/var/lib/dhcp/dhcpd.leases file reveals a problem. The following is an
exerpt.

lease 192.168.5.10 {
starts 3 2003/01/29 11:43:42;
ends 3 2003/01/29 11:43:41;
hardware ethernet 00:08:02:62:a8:76;
uid 01:00:08:02:62:a8:76;
client-hostname "Yosemite";
}

The client machine seems content but the end date is certainly wrong
(unless this means something special?). I have played about the
/etc/dhcpd.conf file which is

subnet 192.168.5.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 {
option domain-name-servers 192.168.5.1;
option routers 192.168.5.1;
range 192.168.5.10 192.168.5.70;
option domain-name "local";
}

to no avail. I have played with the timeconfig settings, switching
hardware to GMT and back. It briefly started working and handed out
correct end times but has stopped again (I think I rebooted in between)
but am not sure exactly what I did that got it working. I realise the
times are stored in GMT but I wonder if there's something wrong with my
time settings?. I have used the same dhcpd.conf settngs on a client
machine and that hands out dhcpd leases to the other clients with no
problems. I can't see any obvious differences between the machines (at
least where it matters, one has X/fluxbox and the other is a bare bones
server).

This problem causes other software that we have to declare that there
are presently no active leases which is causing us some headaches.

Any help much appreciated.

Luke Dobson
