There are two main reasons this could be happening :

1) the client is receiving the reply but ignoring it
2) The reply is not getting to the client

I've seen the first a few times with OS8.x clients, but not with OS X
(but then I only have two OS X clients on the network and they're
both mine). The solution in these cases has been to change the IP
settings to 'manually addressed' and back to DHCP - I guess the DHCP
client must have got itself confused.

Now to the second, do you have any other devices using the airport ?
Do they get addresses ? Does your iBook get an address if you connect
it to the ethernet network ? If you give it an address manually, does
it work through the airport ?

Just a few ideas.
