Public port setting on router??

Hi, I'm pretty new to BT, so please point me to the right direction, 
thanks. I know I should set the forwarding port (trigger port)to 
6881-6889 on my D-link DI-604 broadband router, how about the public 
port settings? Also, what type should I set, UDP or TCP? Anyone 
familiar with this particular router please help, thanks again.
