Newbie -- Help with downloading for MAC

Hi!

I'm very new in and inexperienced with this.  I'm dying to start downloading 
but I can't seem to figure it out.  Everytime I think I have -- Some something 
goes wrong.

>From what I can figure out - I need python to download on my MAC OSX.2.4 
system.  So I downloaded. python -- Then I downloaded wxpython and the 
pythoncard prototype.

Here's my question.  In the installation instructions for the python card it 
says 
this, "Open the Terminal application and do a cd to that directory and then run 
the setup.py script using the 2.3a1 Python you just installed."

Yikes -- Was that in english?!    What's the terminal application?  How do a do 
a cd to that directory?  What's a cd?   How do I use the 2.3a1 I just installed.

Okay -- I'm pretty lame when it comes to computers.  I'd be willing to even pay 
someone who can help set me up/walk me through it so that I can start 
downloading.   Help -- Please...
