Subject: cage retrospective: lineup/program - msg#00011

Hello,
I'm a graphic design student at the University of
Cincinnati's DAAP. I'm currently developing a
series
of posters, performance programs, tickets, etc...
for
a hypothetical John Cage performance and lecture
series.

Would anyone be able to advise me on essential
compositions, prominant performers and lecturers?
What is the optimal line-up?

I'd like the program to be essentially realistic.
Also, I would gladly adapt the final material for
any
actual performance/lectures in exchange for your
input.
Thank you very much,
Jeremy

Re: where to start; and query

Re: where to start Go outside and sit down somewhere and listen for half an hour or so Go back inside and listen to some Cage Repeat several times. Query: Is anyone filling an iPod with Cage? What are you putting on it? Is it possible to accumulate the complete oeuvre on recordings? Query concerning conductor's part in Cage Concert for Piano and Orchestra

I have a group of students organising a performance of the Cage Concert for Piano and Orchestra, including the conductor's part. The way in which this part affects what the others do is not quite clear, I think - not having a score around at the moment, I'd just like to post their specific query, to see if anyone has any answer:   'Should the varying speeds of the conductor's signals affect the speeds withwhich the players of the other instruments move through their parts?'   Many thanks in advance, Ian -- To join or leave the Silence mailing list, please go to https://list.mail.virginia.edu/mailman/listinfo/silence.
