Cage's Works for Sho or Conch Shells: msg#00013

Subject: Cage's Works for Sho or Conch Shells

We plan to recording something like the following 2CD project soon ...

John Cage: Pools, Two3, Inlets, Two4 [The Scores with Sho or Conch Shells] / Tono, Freeman, Fong

Are there other Cage scores with Sho or Conch Shells? If so, let me know.

Some may not be aware ... One9 used in "One9 with 108" is derived from sections of the "full" One9. The very beautiful "One9 with 108" uses less than half the "material" Cage actually composed for the "full" One9. Single movements of One9 can also be performed on their own.

What is remarkable is that the "full" One9, heard by itself or in the form of Two3 (with Conch Shells), can last for a maximum of 2 hours. One9/Two3 is Cage's longest Number Piece and is thus comparable to Morton Feldman's infamous scores of the 1980s.
