precursor wrote: the Edirol R-1 is $450!! that's on my wish list ... i think M-audio also has a 2track flash recorder coming out soon too. i have a sony minidisc and i use it for some recording ... it's not awful but the biggest problem is sony's asshatted concept of copy-protection, which means there is no digital output on their consumer minidisc recorders, so you are forced to output an analog signal to transfer material off the discs. the edirol flash recorder will allow you to just drag-n-drop via the flash card. if they're smart they'd have a USB port on it too so you can use the recorder as a mountable filesystem. i don't have the specs handy so i dunno if they've done this or not. anyways, no moving parts == much better recording quality. -josh |
