Re: Freedb vs MusicBrainz: msg#00195music.equipment.slimdevices.ripping
I agree with ADHawkins. FreeDB data is a crapshoot. Pretty much anyone can make an entry, and nobody checks if it's crap. MisicBrainz is moderated, and nothing gets in until it gets enough "up votes" from the moderators. That said, it does still take a little policing (never let it run "full auto"), but I've been 99% happy with my tagging results from MisicBrainz. Some things that MB does NOT do is offer a Genre tag and Sort tag, because this is deemed by them to be too much of a personalized area for them to be "authorities" on what the "official" tag should be. So, you'll still be doing some manual tagging to fit your own personal tastes, but MB will do most of the dirty work. -- jeffluckett ------------------------------------------------------------------------ jeffluckett's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31751 |
