Slimserver does not recognise WAV files

I have recently been experimenting with ripping my CDs into WAV format
using EAC.  If I do this by generating a FLAC file and ticking the
option for keep the WAV file then no problem Slimserver recognises both
the WAV and the FLAC and both are selectable and playable.  If I rip
just to WAV then Slimserver does not recognise.  I assume this is a
tagging problem but how to resolve?
