I fixed this in iTunes by selecting >Compilation=Yes for all songs. However, upon a rescan of slimserver, the >album has now moved into Various Artists. What's happened is that iTunes has >stored ITUNESCOMPILATION tag for each track, and slimserver seems to >prioritise this over ALBUMARTIST. Is there a way to prevent Slimserver from >reading ITUNESCOMPILATION, or a way to get iTunes to not require >ITUNESCOMPILATION (i.e. group by ALBUMARTIST)? A follow-up to this... I had set all of my ALBUMARTIST tags using mp3tag. When I imported the folder into iTunes, it didn't seem to recognise the ALBUMARTIST tag. I have found that if I select the songs belonging to the same album in iTunes and select "Get Info" I can re-enter the Album Artist. iTunes seems to save this in the BAND tag (is this a bug, or Apple just totally nuts?). I don't want the artist name in the BAND tag, but I have found that if I then reopen the album in mp3tag, I can remove the BAND tag and iTunes still seems to remember the Album Artist. So I do seem to be able to get iTunes to group songs on an album together without using the iTunesCompilation tag, and without messing up my Slimserver DB, but it's a painful exercise. Phil |
