Well, in a German Windows XP it does work if you have Asian chars
support enabled. Translated into English this setting would be Control
Panel -> Regional Settings -> Languages -> Install files for asian
chars.

And AFAIK Slimserver has to run in an uft-8 locale (see "Server
Settings").
