False.  Using either the panel on the left or the extended tag dialog
you can easily edit the same tag on multiple files.  The Explorer-like
layout on the right, where you can edit individual tags, is more for
editing titles, track numbers and other properties unique to the
track.

There are also scriptable 'Action Groups' that can easily be applied to
all of the files in view.
