Re: Artist handling in slimserver: msg#00309music.equipment.slimdevices.ripping
There's a fair amount of stuff in the wiki, such as http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?SlimServerSupportedTags. However, I can think of a couple of things that might give the behaviour you are seeing. First, I assume you have done a full "clear and rescan" scan, not a look for new music scan ? Have you renamed the files following your tag clean up ? If so, do you have any old playlists which might refer to the old location of the files (i.e. using the old filenames) ? Same goes for if you are using either ITunes or MusicMagic to populate your slimserver database - are both of these up to date with the new tags for the files ? Finally, have you checked both the ID3v1 tags and the ID3v2 tags for each file ? These can be different even in a single mp3 file. It's possible that you may only have updated the ID3v2 tags and Slimserver is still picking up the ID3v1 tags only. Tag&Rename make it pretty easy to look at ID3v1 / ID3v2 but any good tagger will show you both sets of tags.
