I re-downloaded Flac and Eac, and set the compression parameters as
suggested. EAC reads the file, writes it as a .wav and then fires up
flac. However flac doesn't seem to do anything, and - when I test it
using only one track - it (EAC) reads on the bottom of the screen '1
compression task left'.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Scott.

I'm not moobaa, but when I have duplicate tracks, I just make a softlink from one to the other. If they are identical, I just pick one. If there are audible differences, I pick the one that sounds better (from an engineering viewpoint). If they are two separate takes, like both a studio and a live version, I usually keep them both. -- Pat Farrell http://www.pfarrell.com

I'm not in front of EAC right now so can't point you at it exactly, but there is a setting (buried under Tools, I think) which allows you to queue up compression tasks for later so as to avoid loading up your processor whilst ripping. davep -- davep
