Re: Non-realtime conversion: msg#00225music.equipment.midi-guitar
I've used this function in logic and vision for a long time and for my purposes it is great, now i rarely use it on gtr so I'm not sure my experience will be specifically helpful but your not getting much response so i'll tell ya what I know. I use it on voice for programming purposes, I like the function, it all started with singing for me and voice is still one of my favorite instruments so it allows me to do things i couldn't do on the gtr, keys or bass I think many/most of the major audio/midi "do it all" programs have this feature, DP, logic etc if your going to get a full featured recording platform that may well come with it so check that I was curious and did a web keyword search on "convert audio to midi" and there seems to be dozens of programs offering this function as a stand alone so if your not into buying an expensive sw set it seems your options are wide open I've considered doing what your doing and i think it points in the direction where midi gtr should go but since i don't really use the gtr for programming I haven't been too motivated that way but i think your on a good track and would appreciate it if you would share your results theres an interview w/ john mcclaughlin(sp I can never remember) on the emagic site, for a recent tour he dumped his rack and is just using his gtr and a powerbook now there are NO details but its interesting peace, steve There are at least three programs mentioned previously on this list, I can't remember any of their names. Anyone using a full version of one? Joel C.
