MIDI setup

Hi all,

I have a question for those in the know.
Next month I expect to get my long awaited Klein electric guitar with 
RMC 13 pole output. I will be going into an Axon AX100 and a JV 1010 
sound module. I want to set all of this stuff up with my G4 which is 
running OS X and ProTools 6.0. I currently have My Korg X3 keyboard 
connected via MIDI to my Digi 001.

I am wondering how best to setup my studio once my guitar gets here - 
this is what I would like to do:

1) Be able to input MIDI data with my keyboard and guitar (which is 
going into the Axon and JV 1010) independently.

2) Be able to playback MIDI data with either The keyboard or JV 1010 
(or both).

Now, since the Digi 001 has only 1 MIDI out and 1 MIDI in, I need to 
know the most flexible and efficient way to connect all of this.
Do I need to get a 4 X 4 MIDI port or should I daisy chain with MIDI 
thru? I have never had to deal with MIDI thru so I don't really know 
what my best options are. If I do need a MIDI port, what is a good one 
to get, and how many ins/ outs will I need?
