feedback on libgphoto 2.1.99: works for me!: msg#00065multimedia.gphoto.devel
Hello, Here's some feedback on libgphoto 2.1.99. In summary: It worked great for me. I tried it out for a friend because their Kodak Z7590 wasn't working with Digikam 0.8, and I read this update might fix it. After installing the supporting software, it readily compiled on Mandriva 2006. I used "checkinstall --install=yes" instead of "make install" to install it which created an RPM package for me that I could uninstall if needed. I then ran "digikam" again. It initially complained that it could not find libgphoto2.so.2 (I hope I got that file name right). That was because the files were installed /usr/local/lib, but digikam was looking in /usr/lib. That was readily fixed: ln -s /usr/local/lib/libgphoto* /usr/lib/ ( I assume providing some option to "./configure" would have been a better solution... ) Then digikam started and read the photos just fine. Thanks! Ironically, I heard the family may still having a problem getting the photos off the camera using Windows XP...
