ARM processors can run Linux when configured "sufficiently large".
This means around 4 - 8 meg of RAM and something for storage (say
at least 16M of flash).

The atmel chips come with 1k of RAM.

The reason that this is nice is that you can develop your application
on Linux, and then cross-compile it with the same gcc compiler for your
taget chip.

You can't easily run Linux on one of these chips.
