Script-controlled image capture: msg#00018

Subject: Script-controlled image capture

I've been attempting to use gphoto2 (v2.1.6-2.1 from Debian) to
capture images programmatically with a Canon S410 with no success.

Does anyone know if the hardware and/or driver support this? There are
suggestions that the driver supports it, but the camera has a habit of
retracting the lens when connected via USB, and the capture command
always generates one of several error messages after several seconds,
at which point I have to power-cycle the camera to talk to it further.

Other operations like image download, etc. work fine.
