And where do you want to remedy that? Do you want to build your own 
version of Mozilla and distribute that?
As for opening a window in a new tab there is a bug on that, see
  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103843
as far as I understand the last comments there indicate that Firefox has 
a preference to configure it to open new windows in a tab.
