about HW requirements

Dear friends,

I'm university student, I'm working rigth now on my thesis project. My
thesis is about an implementation and setting up of a WAP GATEWAY server on
my university, at this moment the most popular operator of the students
cel's don't offer the WAP service, so my intention is implement this WAP
gateway to allow university students to access Internet through my own WAP
gateway.

So want ask you some questions I'll hope you can help me:

1) What is the HW recomended to the server, I'll hope to get 2000 users
registered. I have read the following are the hardware requiriments:

        1 pc server, a common compatible PC
        1 ISDN card (witch vendor is prefered?)

2) Is necesary to use a ISDN line account, can it work with a analog line?

3) Is posible setting up my WAP Gateway with a Lan card to access Internet
or I must use a moden connection?

4) Is strongly necessary my WAP box have his own public IP or it can be into
a LAN?
