Thanks. From the two responses I'm too scared to give it a try.
Seems there is too much of a chance of damaging the phone from what
you are suggesting. Right?

If all you do is read from the phone, you're safe; BitPim alters nothing on your phone in doing so. Like Stephen said, you can play around with different phone models that are already in BitPim and see if you can get it to read correctly.
