Got it, thanks.  Then, is this the world's oddest line continuation 
convention?

Too bad the whole VCard shtick was in place before XML got 
popular.  Wouldn't life be simpler... (I know there have been VCard/XML/RDF 
proposals around for years, but my quick research indicates they haven't 
taken hold, and are not likely to.)
