Subject: Re: Speedial Import/Export

Thanks for the attention to this. I eagerly await the next release -- with ~any~ solution. ;-)))

But being a former developer myself, I do appreciate the desire to get it right.

Along those lines, if I understand things correctly (and I may not) isn't the "abc." prefix intended to act as a primary key for the whole collection of attributes for a given person/entity. In the current BitPim VCard export, there is no such key, and the attributes for a person are simply grouped sequentially. In transforming VCard to Access/Excel tables, I picked up the FN value as the key for each entry and propagated it to subsequent lines, until the next FN.

So, why not use something key-like, such as FN (except for imbedded spaces, of course), or simply 1, 2, 3 etc. You might even use BitPim's internal key in some form.

The other is to use the grouping scheme intended by the standard.

abc.TEL;TYPE=WORK:(123) 555-6789
abc.X-SPEEDDIAL:10
That's a good idea, I missed that when I went through the spec.
I'll use that instead. Being consistent of the current vCards implementation, I'll use phone, phone2, ... prefix for those groupings.
