Re: Speedial Import/Export: msg#00248mobile.bitpim.user
The other is to use the grouping scheme intended by the standard. We just want to be careful that noone reads anything into the prefix names. Have a look in the examples directory for a whole bunch of samples I gathered up, including what Apple and Palm do. I saw that and was contemplating of using those properties. I decided against using them 'cause according to the spec, photos are pictures of the contacts, and sounds are pronunciations of their names. But as long as we agree on what they mean within BitPim, that should be fine. IIRC Palm does use the photo in the same way as we would. It isn't necessarily a strict photo of the person, but more an image associated with that person, which could be a photo of them. I guess the goal of this excercise is to preserve as much contacts information as possible between import and export. I would like vCard to be the format used to export and import between different instances of BitPim. That means we need to aim to export everything and import everything, all the while ensuring compatibility with any other programs out there. (Other than BitPim I have yet to find any program that conforms 100% with the spec).
