Subject: Re: Speedial Import/Export

vCards export and import have been updated to support speed dials using the
following format:

X-BITPIM-SPEEDIAL;(123) 555-6789:10

Unless Roger objected to it,

I do object to that format as phone numbers are already available in another
field and so this duplicate or conflicting information makes life ambiguous,
difficult and not portable to other programs.

There are two solutions. One is as an attribute of the number such as
the following, which does violate the standard somewhat. (X-SPEEDDIAL
may be ok).

TEL;TYPE=WORK;SPEEDDIAL=10:(123) 555-6789

The other is to use the grouping scheme intended by the standard.

abc.TEL;TYPE=WORK:(123) 555-6789
abc.X-SPEEDDIAL:10

The latter is the mechanism I intended to use and the most correct way
of doing it. It is also the hardest to code. Note that the 'abc' bit
has no meaning and is just used to group fields together. It is also
used by some of the stuff Apple exports.

There are also explicit fields for photos and sound attached to an
entry and we should use those and use a similar scheme to the above
in order to specify the filename, and potentially even allow the file
data to be left out.

Roger
