Subject: Re: Any sites that list ringer formats?

The max ringer name on a 6100 appears to be 20 characters. I posted a write up on this a while back. In short:

Original song title: Queen (with David Bowie) - Under Pressure.mp3.
Title on phone: Queen with David Bowie Under, but it won't play
If I try, to erase it, it remains in the list.
If I try to rename it, I get "Queen with David Bow" in the name editor.
If I try to change the name, the name change is ignored.
Manually rename the mp3 on my computer to queen.mp3 and send it. It works fine.

The only way I could remove the "too long" name was to have bitpim download all ringers, delete the one with the too long name. Then send all the ringers back using the replace option.

What version of BitPim are you using? What type of computer (Mac, Windows,
Linux)?

With Mac OS X, and the current BitPim I'm able to import the mp3 with the
title, "Orbital - The Saint.mp3" with no problem. When migrating to the
phone, the "-" is removed, but "Orbital The Saint" still remains as the
title. So I'm not bumping into a limitation of 8.3. In the code, the
maximum file name is 32 characters. Not all characters are accepted by the
phone, and BitBim strips out the offending characters.
