John (and Ross, too) --

As an alternative, and believing the serial number corruption most likely occurred in the most recent additions to the phone's phonebook, I tried to remember the last entries added, and one-by-one, wrote down the data, deleted them from the phone, and again tried downloading the phone's phonebook data into BitPIM. After deleting just 3 entries, BitPIM was finally able to successfully download the entire phonebook -- a first! Not sure why I didn't think of this one earlier . . . (no blonde jokes, please!)

So for the moment, my problem is solved. Perhaps my experience with this alternative approach might help some others. However, this still seems like something that a future upgrade of BitPIM could handle more elegantly.

On second read of Dan's posting, his problem is the data in the phone, not the integration of the phone data to the data in bitpim.

So I'm all wet.

Sounds like it is worth a try. Just though I would pass on what I did to
make it all work! Let us know if this works

Wouldn't it be easier to rename the bitpim data file (for me it's under My
Documents\bitpim\bitpim.db) to something original like "oldbitpim.db", then
download the phonebook from the phone again?

If it doesn't work, at least you can restore the original bitpim database
file.

If you already have your data in BitPim it is just as matter of deleting
your phonebook entries on the phone (I have LGVX6100 and unless I'm
totally
brain dead the only way was to delete each one individually) Then I was
able to move phone book data to the phone and back with out any problems.
I
don't know if there is an easier way, I just had this problem and this is
the fix I was given!

Good Luck

Ross
