This seems to happen once a month.

A small number of people seem to encounter the problem, spend a lot of time
worrying about it, then disappear (the people, I don't know about the
problem.)

Reflashing probably fixes it, but in the absence of good analysis from a
sufferer we can't be sure.

The metamorphosis seems to take about 3 days - everyone disappeared around
Feb 17 last time, so be prepared to see your slug hatch as some horrible
ravenous monster, probably an iPod, on Thursday.
