I have managed to get up and running the Wins server built into
the NSLU2's Samba2.

It seems to work just fine, have configured my test client machine
for a Wins server at 192.168.2.77 (my slugs ip address) and I can
see the netbios-ssn connection on port 139.

The slug keeps the routing table in a file under:-
/var/lock/samba/wins.dat

The samba.org web site states many reasons for a Wins server if
clients use netbios over Tcp/IP, I am hopeing that it will give
Wins resolution through a VPN tunnel so that machines and resources
can be accessed by name rather than by local IP address. Note that
a Wins server have no functionality if netbios over Tcp/IP is
disabled.

Also note that there is a warning on the Samba web site not to
configure the Wins server and the Wins web clinet at the same time,
it will lock up part of Samba which could be disasterous with the
slug.

I need to do a little more work regarding a boot up scrip, reading
through the Wiki suggests two possible routes, either to follow the
FAT32 Wiki or the CUPS Wiki, I think that there is now a need for
an agreed common method to modify the Samba Config file, the CUPS
Wiki looks to be more up to date so is probably best (perhaps the
FAT32 Wiki needs updateing also).
