vim is a bitbake package, but I haven't tried building it. busybox vi is
neither vim nor vi, it has the advantage of being a single (albeit 4000
line) c file.

The problem may be that the particular set of configuration options
selected, I notice that the default build has "CONFIG_FEATURE_VI_DOT_CMD"
turned off, so presumably whoever selected the features is not a vi user...
I also notice that the SIGWINCH handling is built in, along with
OPTIMIZE_CURSOR.

I just turned *all* the features on, and since I have done that I haven't
noticed any problems, well, apart from the traditional uncertainty in the
differences between "majjj>`a" and "majjjl>`a" but that's a vile/vim thing.

[BTW I didn't turn on anything not in the busybox configuration file - i.e.
I just hacked the config of busybox by 'make menuconfig', I certainly didn't
turn on *or* off CONFIG_FEATURE_VI_CRASHME.]
