Help with rsync

I have two slugs setup and running unslung 3.18.  My plan is to 
locate them at two different locations and use rsync to mirror some 
files so I can access them at either location.  I have both slugs 
running rsync (currently on the same network) and I'm trying to test 
out the mirroring.  Rsync workes but I can't get it to preserve 
owner/group.  The receiving machine always ends up with 
nobody/nobody.  I am using the --owner and --group options. Any 
clues where to look.

Once I've got this working I'll be adding openssh to try and get it 
running over a secure connection.
