Subject: Re: Open source IXP_NPE driver status

I've just added ixp4xx-npe_2.3.bb to the SlugOS OE repository (which
attempts to extract the latest microcode from the Intel 2.3 package).

The code is basically:

gcc -I../include ixNpeDlImageConverter.c -o ixNpeDlImageConverter
./ixNpeDlImageConverter
gcc mc_grab.c -o mc_grab
./mc_grab 010c0200 < IxNpeMicrocode.dat > NPE-B.010c0200

But I get an error from mc_grab saying that it can't get the microcode:

Device: IXP425:NPE_B Func: c Rev: 02.00 Size: 15572 bytes ID:010c0200
Error reading Microcode

Anyone got any ideas?

Once I can extract the microcode correctly, I'll add code to slugimage
to put it in the last block so that a userland mc_grab can get it from
there and install it. Then we should be able to start alpha testing the
new open source ethernet driver.
