Hi everyone,
due to chronic incompetence and bogosity on the side of
our server hoster, the mirsolutions server will not be
reachable for the rest of *this* month either. Please
use the other services (rsyncd at allbsd.org, anoncvs
at unixforge.de) for the time being.
I will try to reach agreements with unixforge and the
hosting company to move the domain to the unixforge
administrator (running Debian stable, not a too bad
choice for an OS though not entirely my taste), cancel
the server altogether and have the services run as a
customer on that Debian box.
This is not due to issues with MirOS but rather due to
low-end x86 hardware coupled with incompetence on OSI
Layer 8 and even 9 as well as crappy switches, imple-
mentation of traffic accounting, etc. Admittedly, lack
of ACPI in MirOS may be at fault for the many crashes
of the server in the past, but that does *not* account
for any traffic incoming or especially outgoing, rest
assured.
To the mirsolutions.de customers: I will try to recover
the data which has been on the server prior to the crash,
so pray that there are at least some cluons at that com-
pany. More information by contacting me privately if de-
sired. If the server is discontinued you are encouraged
to look for another service provider. I'm sorry there are
probably none out there running with MirOS, but my own
financial situation does not allow me to continue this;
also, not having to maintain a server will allow me to
invest more time into MirOS development.
