Incidentally, last night I spent a while improving the sage-vmware virtual
appliance. I ran a compressor on it, and got the download to 394MB, which
is much better than what it was before (520MB). I also updated the
vmware machine to SAGE- 2.4.2:

I emailed vmware.com about listing the SAGE vmware appliance on their
site.
Cygwin is still very popular though. Here are the download stats
from www.sagemath.org; they are
the total number of downloads during April 28 -- now (may 5), so for
just over a week:
Cygwin Binary: 115
Linux Binary: 103
OS X Binary: 106
Source: 64
VMware: 80

OK. I've just subscribed to linbox-devel and linbox-use. I'm also very
glad to hear that linbox switched to google groups.
