Subject: How to consider shell thickness when using *TIE in STANDARD?

Hi ABAQUS users,

I am handling a sandwich stucture problem: the core is aluminium honeycomb
which is modeled with solid block, the top and bottom layers are composite
plates which are to be modeled with shell. The solid core and shell plates will
be *TIE together to simulate the whole sandwich. I read ABAQUS manual finding
that the shell thickness is not considered in ABAQUS/Standard (but it IS
considered in Explicit). Then, how to consi
der the shell thickness? In another word, it is the shell surfaces that contact
with the solid core, not the mid-surfaces of the shells, therefore, the shell
thickness should be accounted for when making the constraints. Please kindly
help out.
