A question about using shell element in Abaqus: msg#00188mathematics.abaqus.user
Dear All, I am gonna model a plate(or plate-like) structure using S4R shell elements. The in-plane dimension of the plate is 20mm by 20mm, and out-of-plane dimension is 800um. For some reason, I hope to model it using S4R shell element with size of 50um by 50um or 100um by 100um. In this case, for a single shell element, its in-plane dimension 50um or 100um is much much smaller than the out-of-plane dimension which is 800um. Can I mesh the plate like that? Or will any limitations result from this mesh? Thanks in advance. ========= Richard Sun National University of Singapore ------------------------ Yahoo!
