RE: Piezo modeling: msg#00171mathematics.abaqus.user
Hello Murali Thanks for your suggestion. We tried to apply voltage as the boundary condition for a specific model referred in the literature. The description of the model is given below: Length = 0.1 m Width = 0.01m Total thickness = 0.018m Two piezo layers each 1 mm thick bonded on either side of the Structure of thickness 16mm. Material property Structure E = 70 Gpa Poisson?s ratio = 0.3 Piezo E = 11.6485 Gpa Poisson?s ratio = 0.3 Dielectric constant = .1153e-9 Farad / m Piezoelectric stress coefficient ,e3,11 = 34.52 Coulomb / m2 In order to give the electrical potential boundary condition, the structural material at the center was modeled using piezo solid C3D8E element. 10 volt was applied on the top surface of the top piezo layer and the bottom surface of the bottom piezo layer. The expected displacement as par Zhang and Sun (Smart material and structures vol 5 1996) should be 6 e-7 m. The displacement obtained from the present model equals to 11.6e-7 m which happens to be double the expected displacement. I am here with attaching the *.INP file and I am eagerly looking forward for a comment from you.
