I've tested this, and can't reproduce it.

im running dbmail 1.2.4 on debian from you apt source :-)

Consider running dbmail from debian proper. The debian.nfgd.net apt repository will at times contain packages that are not yet ready for uploading to master. Any problems fixed on debian.nfgd.net prior to upload will *not* result in higher version numbers, and therefor not be detected by apt, unless you tell apt to do so.
