Re: Filters questions: msg#00001

Are filters case sensitive? If so anyway to make it case insensitive?

It actually depends on the mail account. For IMAP accounts, for example, the search request is sent to the IMAP server, and it depends on how your IMAP server implements searches. Ditto for news accounts.

For local mail folder searches, they are case insensitive.

Do filters search for exact match or partial?

Depends on the search type, again.

For example trying to filter a list. For some strange reason some posts have questions-h+KGxgPPiopAfugRpC6u6w@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx while others have freebsd-questions.freebsd.org

A search for a specific address hits an exact address only.

Try entering the search as a search on a generic header, and manually typing in the header's name (From/To/et al). This will now be a generic text search.

Lastly, does the filter only works for incoming mail? What about mail in the directory already? As I try to fix the filter mail already in the folder doesn't seem to be affected by new rules.

Correct. Only new messages get filtered.
