That was an experiment in integrated development of code, tests, and
the documentation. There are tools to extract only code (the result
being SSAX-code.scm); Kirill has a tool to extract the documentation,

I personally think the experiment was successful; I understand not
everyone shares that opinion.
The version of SSAX in the CVS repository on SourceForge is the
current version. It appears to have been adequate for a year or so,
there have been no pressing changes.
