bolix ADB box: msg#00011lisp.org.slug
Dear SLUGgies, the power-up button in my Symbolics keyboard's ADB box doesn't work reliably; it feels kind of sticky, and doesn't work at all times. I opened the box, but found nothing obviously wrong. My kludge is to keep a Mac keyboard handy, and swap the two keyboards just for the duration needed to power up the Mac. Annoying. Can you recommend a solution? I intended to plug both keyboards at the same time, but I read in the manual that this could cause the Mac's ADB controller to fry, and my friend water fried his 950's motherboard's ADB during an incident that looks quite like it. Happily, I had only one ADB cord, so I was prevented from trying that, until I found the warning in the MacIvory manual. Is there a known fix to this problem? If I find an ADB cable and plug an apple keyboard on the other ADB port of the Mac, instead of on the same, will it also fry the motherboard?
