mouse actions ignored?

I wonder if someone else has encountered the following 
While running a current mcclim example my mouse is completely ignored.
E.g in closeau nothing happens on any mouse click and using the mouse
int the listenter just works to choose something from a menu.

System: Debian 2.6.10 AMD64
SBCL 9.10.x
mcclim: what can be found in the CVS tree from today.
