I would say that PCL's MOP support is much better than Closette's. In
fact, Closette has almost nothing of MOP (!), whereas PCL is I believe
near-complete wrt. MOP. Closette is really just a rough sketch of a
CLOS/MOP implementation.

I faced the same choice between Closette and PCL a while ago, and I
too chose Closette for my project. I think PCL has a steeper learning
curve and requires more work to get going, but once it works I suspect
it's a much more mature and complete code-base. Closette is almost
like starting from scratch, and the good side of that is that you get
to know the details and tune things to your implementation as you
bring it up to speed. But, obviously, that's a lot of work. I don't
know enough about PCL to have any idea how difficult it would be to
port to Corman Lisp.
