CVS machine status update: msg#00007lisp.cmucl.devel
Status update on the CVS machine. I picked up the machine at Paul's and ITA is ready to host it. With regrets I have to inform you that the harddisk died when I was running software updates at home on Friday. I waited for a few days to maybe have it turn out to be a transient problem, but I still got boot-preventing hard read errors yesterday. I ordered a new harddisk yesterday. Or rather I plan to exchange things so that my 37 GB IBM goes into it which is running without hickup for years now, so that we don't put a brand-new harddrive into our CVS machine. No sure what we will do with 37GB of space, but whatever. Data loss will not be a problem. After the last incident I tightend up the remote syncing of things to cover things we lost when Wind River (who I understand also screwed up the Mars Rover) pulled the plug out of the last machine. For the delay I can only apologize. I'm not sure I did something horrible to the harddisk but I was speeding up things by using softupdates and loading the thing with all kinds of long-lasting procedures all at once and bang off it goes :-( Martin -- %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Martin Cracauer <cracauer@xxxxxxxx> http://www.cons.org/cracauer/ No warranty. This email is probably produced by one of my cats stepping on the keys. No, I don't have an infinite number of cats. |
