Klingt mehr nach einem Evolution-Problem. Ist der Fehler
reproduzierbar ?
Lösche die Evolution-Ordner
$HOME/.evolution und
$HOME/.gconf/apps/evolution

und versuch es nochmal.

Falls es nicht funkt. könntest du Evolution von der Konsole starten und
gucken ob es Fehlermeldungen rausschmeist.
Falls es segfault kannst du es durch gdb jagen und evtl. deine
Systemarchitektur posten.
