vt8251 support: msg#00017linux.ubuntu.server
Hi all, Im preparing a server with ubuntu 6.06 server edition. I cant install it because it doesnt see the 2 sata2 drives ( Maxtor DiamondMax ) that I plugged in the master of both sata channel ( 4 ports, ASUS P5V800-MX ) It doesnt work in raid mode or sata mode ( in bios ). Kernels 2.6.15 and onwards have support, with patches at viaarena forums, please deliver patched isos ( maybe in the daily dapper drake server isos ? ) with kernels that have full support for this controllers ( Dapper already have this ( ahci module ), but not functional, it works in the beta cycle, but on release version not ). ( Im trying to install on RAID0 setup trought FakeRAID VIA BIOS, FreeBSD 6.1 works flawlessly with vt8251 and his raid, but I prefer Ubuntu because I dont want to compile every time I have to update ports ). At least, I want that it detect the drives and them, I install with Linux software RAID. Thanks -- Jacobo Arvelo "UNIX4ALL" Free/Open BSD & Mac Powered User http://www.corralito.org
