gaim-libnotify problemas com dependencias

Bom dia..

alguem pode me dar um help..

estou tentando instalar o gaim-libnotify e no ./configure passa varias 
coisas, mais tenho o seguinte  erro:

checking for LIBNOTIFY... configure: error: Package requirements 
(libnotify >= 0.3.2) were not met:

Package gtk+-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `gtk+-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'gtk+-2.0', required by 'libnotify', not found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LIBNOTIFY_CFLAGS
and LIBNOTIFY_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.

alguem pode me dar uma luz como seto o PATH pro gtk certo?? ja olhei o 
man pkg-config mais não adiantou muita coisa pra mim..
