Tech Board Meeting 24 May 2005 - Summary: msg#00004linux.ubuntu.news
A special Tech Board meeting was held today (Tuesday 24 May 2005) at 20:00 UTC. The regular meeting was scheduled for last week, Tuesday 17 May 2005 at 20:00 UTC, however as both mdz and sabdfl were not present at last week's regular meeting, it was felt that the Maintainer Candidates for approval on the agenda could not be considered at that time, so these were carried over to this week's meeting. 1. The first item discussed was the time of the Tech Board meeting. This is currently at 20:00 UTC every second Tuesday. This was discussed at length with many people voting for a cycled time, or even 2 alternating times for the meeting. Here 06:00 and 20:00 UTC alternating was suggested as a start. An equal number of people feel that any time will end up being bad for someone, so should just be kept as is. It was noted that as Matt Zimmerman - mdz, chairs these meetings, they should be during his awake cycle ;). After much debate it was agreed that mdz will approach sabdfl for an opinion on the matter. For now the next meeting remains scheduled at 20:00 UTC on Tuesday 31 May 2005. 2. Maintainer candidates for approval. The list of candidates awaiting approval was reviewed. Only the people specifically listed on the agenda were available, so the remainder of the list will be carried over to the next meeting. The folowing candidates were considered and approved at the meeting. Maintainer Candidates Approved: * DanielHolbach (dholbach) as uploader for main. * GerardoDiGiacomo (astharot) as uploader for universe. * StephanHermann (\sh or shermann) as uploader for universe. * BrandonHale (tseng) as uploader for main for Mono transition. * ReinhardTartler (siretart) as uploader for universe. *REMINDER* all approved MOTUS, please put yourself on the MOTU page in the wiki *REMINDER* 3. Finally the release schedule was discussed briefly, with a request for major changes to be announced and communicated effectively at least 3-4 days before they are uploaded. This would allowing co-ordination between team members and allowing breakages to be fixed in time.
