Hi all!
I'm about to by a laptop with a Realtek ALC883 chip (it happens to be
one of the few decent laptops I can find that I can get without an OS),
and I see that it can be a bit of a pain.
There is a thread at
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=202555&page=5
that indicates that alsa 1.0.13, which was released a couple of months ago, has
support for it, whereas the alsa in Edgy does not.
Therefore, a backport would be really nice to have! :-)
